Debt Collection Litigation New YorkOn April 23, 2013, the New York State General Assembly passed a bill titled the Consumer Credit Fairness Act which introduced new requirements for debt collection litigation in New York against consumers. The Bill directly affects debt collection litigation in New York by shortening the Statute of Limitations from six years to three years. As of now the Bill has not been signed into law, it has been referred to the New York State Senate.
